WASHINGTON, D.C. (bobfromaccounting.com) - Researchers revealed
an ancient limestone burial box discovered in Jerusalem could
contain the earliest known reference to Jesus as well as shed
new light on Christ's older brother James.
An article in a recent issue of Biblical Archaeology Review
said the ossuary, dated to about the year 63 A.D., demonstrates
that James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus was, among other
things, an angry drunk and more often than not, "a real
a-hole."
Andre Lemaire of the Sorbonne University in Paris studied
the box and it's contents and came to a similar conclusion.
"The evidence seems to show that James was in many ways
a lot like Judas," Lamaire said. Except in his case,
he really had no remorse, redeeming values or soul."
According to Lemaire, based on the amount of references to
"spirit water" and empty bottles strewn about the
burial site, James probably had a severe drinking problem
which may have been exacerbated by his brother's alleged ability
to turn water into wine. Lemaire also contends it became much
worse when Jesus started becoming famous.
"It seems that James would use his status as Jesus's
brother to extract womanly favors from the flock that traveled
around him," Lemaire said. "James probably made
extra money by selling Jesus' personal items and we're quite
certain Jesus, as forgiving as he was, felt embarrassed by
his brother's jealousy and dishonesty and was continually
apologizing for him."
The Biblical Archaeology Review, citing ancient scribblings
on parchment found next to the burial box, goes on to say
that James most likely became bitter and angry later in life
when he accidentally found out Jesus was born by Immaculate
Conception, while he was conceived the normal, messy way.
"Apparently, James was digging around Mary and Joseph's
room looking for some hidden frankincense in a drawer when
he found out the truth, Lemaire added. "The translation
is very difficult to understand but I'm pretty certain the
shit really hit the fan after that."
